Bin Bin Wastebasket
Work out writer's block with these crinkle trash bins and pen holders by John Brauer for Essey of Denmark, which resemble the crushed results of your literary torture. Molded of hard polyethylene, tough and easy to clean. Cool design is in the details, and these office and home accessories are a deliciously droll option to conventional containers.

“How many times have we looked at something and wondered what it is, or what it is used for?” That’s the question that drives Danish designer John Brauer, who believes that the shape of objects should first be inspired by their ultimate function. “In the world of nature, shapes are defined by their function. It forms the very essence of our natural world,” he relates. So he modeled his firm Essey by hewing to a similar notion in the manmade world, as a design philosophy which he terms “symbolic functionalism.” Embodied in his first standout design, Bin Bin, it set the benchmark for all the company’s future products.
John travels all over the world as inspiration for his work, researching and collecting in-depth impressions of different cultures. During his career he has worked on communication, product and graphic design projects for companies in Germany and throughout Scandinavia. His efforts have won several renowned awards such as the Good Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award and the IF Product Design Award in Germany for outstanding design quality.
