Description
This magical work by lighting artist Adam Frank spotlights the cloud's illusions—and in 3D no less. The noted Brooklyn-based inventor has deployed LED optics to transform an ordinary mirror into an at-home art installation. Press a button and a 3D image of pillowy clouds lit by radiant sunbeams appears to float in front of the reflection within. This luminous picture can be adjusted by a touch dimmer for brightness control. At once an ambient light source, mirror and singular artwork, the framed Lucid Mirror can be hung on a wall or placed on a mantle or shelf. And, when turned off, the image disappears and leaves only the reflection visible. Replaceable LED backlight lasts for at least 100,000 hours of continuous use.

Adam Frank definitely sees the light. The Brooklyn artist and designer creates remarkable illuminated design objects for the home as well as public art projects throughout the U.S. Breaking down boundaries between fine arts and décor, he’s constantly exploring new techniques and challenging the boundaries of possibility. Memorably, he has received commissions from the cities of Denver, Seattle and Indianapolis in the last few years that are literally projections of his fascination with light for vast urban audiences.
