Description

Starkly elegant, Pipeline is pure form, standing straight and resolute. The floor lamp balances on a weighted, mirror-finish chrome base, seeming to float. In another variation on ANDlight designer Caine Heintzman's linear modular series, the freestanding fixture emits a striking vertical beam of light. A specially developed diffuser both softens the LED illumination and magnifies the surrounding effect.

Brand

ANDlight

Vancouver-based ANDlight reflects creative director Lukas Peet’s aim to imbue his designs with a timeless spirit and deeply thought-out functionality. Influenced as a child by his jewelry designer father, he attended the prestigious Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands before returning to Canada and cofounding the company with partners Caine Heintzman and Matt Davis “with the intent to challenge existing standards in lighting,” he says.

There is also a touch of playfulness in pieces like the Button series, with its tilting circular LED face or Orbit with its allusion to the solar system. Inspiration can come from anywhere but he wants each piece to be unique, with an attention to detail afforded by keeping all of the production close by in Canada. “Everything has to have a unique little angle,” Lukas says. “If you’re a musician or an artist or a designer, your whole life should revolve around creating new things—not copying someone else.”
