Hans J. Wegner's clean-lined CH36 side chair is as comfortable to sit in as it is striking to behold. Simple, functional, and thoughtfully made, his 1962 design owes to the influence of Shaker furniture along with his own subtle touches—in the legs that taper off slightly toward the floor and the curved backrest, more rounded at the top than the bottom, enhancing back support. With a sturdy hand-woven paper cord seat, the dining chair comes in solid oak or beech in a numerous array of finishes to suit both home and contract environs.
